Winter Is Coming…
Winter is coming. No really… winter is coming. And we’re going to be cold and we’re going to be shivering and we’re going to be tense.
An article that just came out in the journal Spine, which is the top spine-related medical journal in the world, relates nicely to our shivering future selves. This article talks about how people who are undergoing chiropractic care feel better with back pain and feel better with neck pain, not much surprises here. Actually, the efficacy and safety of chiropractic care for back and neck pain are unrivaled. But what it pointed to, and that is really interesting, is a marked emotional health benefit. The researchers followed people up and they looked at the utilization of chiropractic care on a maintenance basis.
They found measurable, significant, very meaningful benefits for the person who followed up with chiropractic care past the acute pain phase and on to the maintenance phase. They found a reduction in the number of recurrences, a reduction in the number of repeat episodes. Most interesting, the reported outcome from the patients was enhanced well-being, emotional health and happiness. These are important findings.
These findings are congruent with what we know about how chiropractic adjustments affect the central nervous system and how our brain and happiness level works.
Winter is coming. We’re going to be uptight. We’re going to be cold. But getting adjusted is going to help us adapt better. I don’t think we’ll be less cold, but maybe we will be feeling more comfortable with the cold? Let’s all make sure we’re getting adjusted on a regular basis, so we can be happier, more relaxed and feeling better on all levels!
