Pregnancy Low Back Pain
I have a really sweet study to share with you. One of the universal human experience for pregnant women is low back pain. Thirty-Five years of practice and talking to any Mom will confirm that at some point during the process of pregnancy, they are going to have low back pain. A study was published on the topic in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, one of the top journals in the discipline. The article is called A Randomized Control Trial Comparing Multimodal Intervention (code word for chiropractic care) and Standard Obstetrics Care for Low Back and Pelvic Pain in Pregnancy.
The long and short of it is that pregnant women frequently have low back pain. When they follow the typical traditional course, it really doesn’t change a whole lot or worse, it involves medication, which is not a great idea when you’re pregnant. This frustrates everyone, from the Mom to her family to the doctors and midwives. However, in this randomized control trial, they compared that to having pregnant women utilize chiropractic care in conjunction with the usual thing they do with their OB. And lo and behold, women who receive chiropractic care during pregnancy had much less pain throughout the whole process. Low back, as well as pelvic pain, was very significantly reduced with chiropractic care.
You know what? If you know someone pregnant, if you know an obstetrician, if you have seen an obstetrician, let them know that chiropractic is here and can help. Dr. Linda and I have seen many pregnant women over the last 35 years. I have to tell you, by and large, they do amazingly well. Why have pain when you don’t have to? It’s safe. It’s effective. And we’re here. I can’t wait to see you!
