A question I get quite often from people who are not familiar with chiropractic care is whether chiropractic can help with lower back pain, and the answer is a resounding yes. Several things that I want to point out about that. Number one, the research about that topic is extremely plentiful. There’s a lot of research that’s been done over decades that shows the effectiveness of chiropractic care on low back pain. This research shows superior outcomes chiropractic care delivers when compared to over-the-counter medication, prescription medication, opioids, physical therapy, massage, biofeedback… and every time chiropractic care comes out ahead.
For lower back pain, chiropractic care is a very high success rate. Another thing that is really important is the practitioner. I’ve helped people who have lower back pain for decades, and I know exactly what’s going on. Your doctor needs to figure out exactly what’s happening with each person. There is no cookie-cutter method. Expertise is key. Experience certainly helps a lot.
The other thing that I want to point out is that the most common alternatives to chiropractic care for lower back pain is taking over the counter NSAIDs, Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, things like that. Not only does research point to a poor level of effectiveness, it’s just not a way to go in the long-term. They damage your body in several ways, sometimes over the long-term they can have very dire consequences. Additionally, these drugs do not help your body heal. They might make pain go away temporarily, but no healing takes place, they may turn an acute problem into a chronic problem, something you really want to avoid. It’s just not a smart move.
So, if you know someone who has low back pain, just give your chiropractor a call. Come and see me. I’m always happy to help out. That’s why I get up in the morning, so I can help you. I can’t wait to see you.
