Less Pain. More Brain.
I just read this really great article. It is exciting for a couple of reasons.
Number one, it confirms something that we’ve known forever, and that is that chiropractic helps pain, it helps reduce pain. The other reason it’s so exciting is because this article is a study that was done at Stanford University where they used functional MRIs (fMRI) to look at how the brain works. The scientists did fMRI before and after people got adjusted. They looked specifically at the areas of the brain that mediate pain. These are the pain centers inside the brain. To do that, they pinched the volunteers’ index finger to create a pain signal. They recorded the way the brain experienced the pain. Then they adjusted people. And then, they created the same pain signal by pinching their finger again and the looked at the brain a second time.
And what they found is that there was lower level of activation after an adjustment. This is very important. What they have shown is that not only are adjustments having a local effect, which has been documented for long time, but also adjustment having a central nervous system effect. There’s a lot of studies now coming out that are showing that this is where the magic really happens. When you get a chiropractic adjustment, the way your brain functions is improved, and not only are you going to have less pain, you are going to have better overall function. And you’re going to have better overall health.
This is why, over the long run, it makes so much sense to get adjusted on a regular basis. Get out of pain, function better, be healthier. Hey, I just couldn’t wait to share this with you. I’ll see you soon.
