Better Brain Through Better Irrigation

In Burlington, I’m Dr. Jean-Marc Slak. Juicy article. You know I’m a geek. I read articles, I just love this stuff. Today, I’m going to put together a few pieces of a fascinating puzzle.
I found this article in the journal Science, a big-time journal. The authors demonstrate that blood flow and cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) flow work in unison while we sleep to cleanse and flush the brain. That is fascinating for two reasons. First, because it proves flow of CSF is important. Second, it reminds me of movie MRIs of CSF flow. The cerebral spinal fluid nourishes and cleanses our brain and our spinal cord. The key is motion – flow. And these MRIs show that CSF moves better after an adjustment. There have been these scientists who did these studies that are just phenomenal. They show decreased, impeded flow before adjustment, and then increased, normal, beautiful flow after.
So this new study shows the importance of that flow. Getting adjusted is going to help the flow of CSF that is cleansing our brain while we’re sleeping.
And I also want to tie that with this other article that just came out a few months ago. I know I talked about it at some point, which showed that getting adjusted improved cerebral circulation. You have better blood flow to the brain when you get adjusted. So when you put those three pieces together, it really draws a picture where being well adjusted is a central component of optimum brain health. If your brain is healthy, you are healthy.
